Upcoming performance of HIS Orchestra: December 15th.

Hi everyone,

Please make sure you are going wisely the mid-semester brake and study for Orchestra.
Our Christmas Performance is on December 15th, Thursday evening.
You will be given on this Tuesday (October 25th) new score for a `Xmas medley.

HIS Orchestra would like to thank Henry's parents for donating to the HIS Orchestra the complete orchestral score of Phantom of the Opera.

As you may realise, we have a lot of work to do till our Christmas performance... so start studying hard!!!

Cancelation of Tuesday's rehearsal !

Dear all,

On Tuesday, September 20th we will have to cancel our rehearsal  due to an unexpected and serious health problem of one of my family's member.
Please come and see me for further details.
On Thursday, the rehearsal will be held normally.

Results for audition semester1, 2011 - 2012

The students below have earned a position in Orchestra.
Congratulations!
Please, remember that you need to come every Tuesday and Thursday, starting this Thursday September 15th,  to rehearse at the Orchestra - Studio room at B1.
You need to practise at home too, so please buy a special binder for Orchestra to keep safe all the scores I will give you.
Being a member of HIS Orchestra is being a responsible musician.
We are going to have a lot of performances, starting from  Christmas  so you need to be prepared and you can not quit your position unless there is a serious reason to do so.

Orchestra rehearsals for Elementary Department

Orchestra for Elementary Department starts this Tuesday, September 13th.

Please remember that this week, we are not going to rehearse till 16:15.
Tuesday and Thursday we finish at 15:50.

Please make sure you have informed your parents to come earlier to pick you up or arrange your taxis.
For those who take the school bus, please check with the office before you come for rehearsal.

We will start practising on new scores for the Christmas Performance and rehearsing on old ones.

See you at the Orchestra Room with your instruments!

Auditions!

Congratulations to everyone who participated in the auditions for the Orchestra.

The results will be announced on Wednesday, through this blog and the name list of the students who can participate in the orchestra starting this semester will be posted on the information bulletin board.

Please remember that the audition is taking place mainly to check your level of performance and see if you can perform in the orchestra level.

We don't want to stress you or make you believe that you are not a good musician just because the scores given are too difficult for you :) 

If you don't see your name in the list, you will be most welcome to try again at the auditions which will take place next semester !

New Music Year in HIS !

Welcome back everybody!

I hope during the summer you relaxed and you charged your batteries to full !

HIS Orchestra is proud to welcome  the new members from the Secondary Department:

Stella, in the Violin Section
Jay, Lesly and Candy in the Flute Section
Perry in the Brass Section

For the Elementary Department, audition for new members will be held on  next Thursday, September 8th, 15:15 - 15:30 downstairs at the Orchestra room.

So far, we have the following applicants:

Jonathan, grade 4 for violin
Sharon, grade 4 for flute
Shawn, grade 4 for glockenspiel
Alex, grade 4 for drums
Annita, grade 4 for piano
Yehna, grade 4 for piano
Leo, grade 4 for piano
Tatsuya , grade 4 for piano.

Those who will try with the piano and pass the audition they will have a position in the percussion section of the orchestra and depending their performance level will  be given a solo piano part with the orchestra.

Please, bring your own instrument  if you participate in the audition  (except piano players and drums)

You will perform in front of all the members of the Orchestra a small musical piece of your choice ( so please, bring the score with you) and I will let you know in private if you passed.

In case you don't get a pass in the Orchestra, don't loose your confidence! There are a lot of reasons why someone can not participate in the Orchestra and I can assure you that none of these reasons is because  he/she isn't good in music.

Practise more and be ready for next semester: New auditions will take place for those who would like to try again.

This is a video of us, rehearsing Canon in D. It's good for you to see ( and listen to) your mistakes; in that way you can be better and better.

I hoped we could have a proper rehearsal this Tuesday for the High School Department, but unfortunately, you forgot! (well, most of you..)

Please, notice that the schedule of the rehearsal hasn't changed: It is still every Tuesday 15:00 - 15:50 for the Elementary and 16:00 - 17:00 for the High School.

We have almost two months till our first live performance on the International Music Day and we need to practise a lot!
